Diets

Over half of the population has decided to try out a new diet at some point. The needle on the scale gradually creeps up, and so we decide to take a momentary action. Dieting is much more than a month of eating a certain way though. It is a lifelong dedication to bettering the way that you live.

3 Day Diet

While short detoxification diets can help the body clean itself, there is no quick way to permanently lose weight. While there have been claims that the three day diet, if followed correctly can result in a 10 pound weightloss, it is not a good way to sustainably lose weight.

Atkins Diet

The Atkins Diet focuses on cutting carbohydrates out of your daily intake gradually. The main premise here is that proteins are metabolized slower by your body, and provide you with more energy than carb heavy items.

Cabbage Soup Diet

The cabbage soup diet has been called the ultimate in fad diets. It is centered around the consumption of a low calorie cabbage soup for the period of seven days. While this will result in short term weight loss (like most fad diets), it cannot be a basis for a healthy lifestyle.

Healthy Diets

No matter if you are on a diet or not, it is always a good idea to maintain a regular intake of fruits, vegetables, lean meats and grains. A healthy diet can reduce your risks of certain diseases, as well as keep your body in the best shape possible.

Easy Diets

Dieting is not a simple process in the least. It takes work and effort to be willing to incorporate both healthy eating and regular excercise into your life; however, the rewards of doing so are immense. It is perhaps the only way to reach both optimum physical and psychological well-being at once.

Fast Diets

A good diet is one which you can incorporate into your regular lifestyle. It is not something temporary which you decide to do whenever it is time to lose weight, although most choose to think otherwise. While a day long fast is a good way to clean out the body, any longer can be dangerous and unhealthy.

Grapefruit Diet

The grapefruit diet, just like the soup diet, liquid diets, and the three day diet, is a fad diet that can result in a short term weight loss if you decide to follow it strictly, meaning eating nothing but grapefruits for a set period of time.

Liquid Diet

Liquid diets, like others, have been widely regarded as fad or short term diets resulting in nothing more than a short term weightloss. Some liquid diets have been known to make those on them sick. While a weight loss shake may make a good on-the-go meal, it should not be a regular part of your diet.

Low Calorie Diets

Since calories are the root of both weight gain and weight loss, they are probably the most important thing for you to keep track of during your diet. For every three thosand and five hundred calories you consume or don't consume, you will either gain or lose one pound.

Low Carb Diets

While there are some carbs, such as whole grains or those found in fruit, that are good for the body, others are not. Refined carbs found in white bread and most sugars are both high calorie and quickly metabolized, meaning they provide little to no energy.

Low Fat Diets

Many diets will suggest limiting your fat intake. While it is always a good idea to do this, you should also make sure to pay attention to calories. After all, an item can be virtually fat free, yet still be loaded with sugar.

Rice Diet

While rice is an excellent whole grain that should be a part of every diet, it cannot sustain you by itself. Since it is recommended to have a whole grain and protien in every meal, a meal rice plus a lean meat such as chicken or turkey is a great choice.

South Beach Diet

The South Beach Diet, unlike the Atkins Diet allows for the consumption of some carbs and fats, labeled by it's creator Arthur Agatston as "good carbs" and "good fats." There are three phases of the diet during which bad fat and bad carb intake is gradually restricted.
